TOUR OF KING VALLEY

The Sam Miranda Tour of King Valley is a truly unique event on the National Road Series, it has the ingredients of a European monument race because of its dirt sections and long distances. Bright Velo Events was given the job to take it to the next level and cement its place in the calendar. I changed Day 1 of the Tour

to include a 40 lap criterium around Winton Raceway, it was the first time a bike race was held on the V8 supercar track which was a massive success. Day 2 was also changed to a longer distance (180km) which included 5 dirt sections to make racing  tough and exciting. The race included a full NRS list of Mens and Womens professional teams.

PUKA UP GRAND TOUR

The CEO of Puka Up Wayne Schwass wanted to create an event that test the mind and body over 10 days. The Puka Up Grand Tour was born, a 10 day cycling marathon travelling from Melbourne, Falls Creek, Albury, Bendigo and Ballarat. The event had plenty of steady climbs, long descents and tired legs by the end of it. But there was some real honest conversation around the subjects of suicide prevention and mental health.

Goal achieved.

DIRTY DERBY

10 Men, 3 Days and a 80km of single track in a MTB heaven! Derby Tasmania was a location for the first annual Dirty Derby MTB weekend. A early flight to Launceston and a 2 hour drive to Derby started this weekend of frivolity. Riders enjoyed famous trails like Big Chook, Flickerty Sticks and Return to Sender. Smiles could not be wiped off their faces and that was only Day 1. Day 2 was the epic Blue Teir, a 45km single track that blew us away. Day 3 was some more shuttles with some exhilarating downhill and then a hearty lunch and a bus trip back to Launceston. Tails were told and bruises were compared, a memorable weekend of trails, beers and laughs.

RIDE WITH ME

Ride with Me 2019 was created in partnership of Knights of Suburbia and the charity organisation Love Me Love You founded by AFL player Lance Picioane. The event started in beautiful weather coming out of Melbourne but then conditions changed!! Snow, sleet, rain and hail fell on the courageous riders who rode to Marysville to conclude a truly epic Day 1. Better conditions on Day 2 enabled the riders to get back to Melbourne safely but with some remarkable memories. The reason behind the ride was to communicate resilience and strength in the community around mental health , this ride was combined both and gave the riders who participated a reflection of their own inner strength to finsh the event.

HILLS OF ORANGE CHARITY RIDE

The Hills of Orange Charity Ride was created by a small committee of members who wanted to help find Cure for Cancer. Over 3 days - 134 rider experienced some of the worst conditions on a bike I have ever seen, wind, rain and hills made the event hard. Instead of cowering to the conditions the riders showed amazing teamwork and got every rider home safely. With $90,000 raised through the bike ride, silent auctions and personal challenges this event was one to remember.
